Cat lovers the world over waited with bated breath for early February in anticipation of the annual Kitten Bowl, featuring furry felines frantically frolicking for footballs! Featuring polished clips of available rescue cats and kittens at their finest.

So What happened to it? Why did the kitten bowl get canceled?

This answer is, it kind of didn’t.

The Great American Rescue Bowl, formerly known as the Kitten Bowl (not to be confused with our own SuPurr Bowl presented by Cuteavalanche), is a special event that aims to raise awareness about animal homelessness and facilitate pet adoptions. The event, which has facilitated over 75,000 shelter pet adoptions since its debut in 2014, will feature kittens, puppies, cats, and dogs available for adoption at shelters across the United States. The Great American Rescue Bowl is broadcast on GAC Media now.

Beth Stern, foster parent and national spokesperson for North Shore Animal League America, said, “I couldn’t be more excited that the Great American Rescue Bowl is coming to GAC Family. Hundreds of shelters across the country have participated throughout the years and tens of thousands of animals have been adopted as a result of these special events. I look forward to continuing the rich tradition of representing our kitten players and saving lives.”

Joanne Yohannan, senior vice president of operations at North Shore Animal League America, added, “We are thrilled that the Great American Rescue Bowl and bowl watch parties will be returning in 2023. Sharing stories of our lifesaving work and highlighting the beautiful, homeless animals available for adoption in shelters across the country is such a meaningful way to save lives and helps us continue our mission to rescue, nurture, adopt, and educate.”

GAC Media will announce further details about the event, including adoption event information and a schedule of official parties, at a later date. Note: This event should not be confused with the SuPurr Bowl presented by Cuteavalanche.

We of course support Beth and GAC with their annual broadcast which can be watched earlier in the day of our own SuPurr Bowl which will be streaming live on Twitch, YouTube and several other streaming platforms Feb 11th at 11am 2024
